Hair Diary // Natural Color

I have always hated my hair.  I think most women want hair opposite of what they have.  My hair is fine, stick straight, and tends to get oily quickly.  Of course, I would love to have thick, dry hair, with a natural soft curl to it.  However, that’s not going to happen, so I’ve decided to try to make peace with the hair I have.


Over the years, I have dyed my hair many different colors to try to make it more interesting.  My hair has been light blonde to dark blonde, copper, auburn, light brown, medium brown, and (most recently) strawberry blonde.  I began dying it it when I was in high school, so I didn’t really know what my real color actually was.  When I got married in the spring, I started thinking about my future family.  I don’t want my bad self esteem to have an affect on my future children.  I want to embrace my natural hair and stop spending countless hours obsessing over different colors and  wasting ridiculous amounts of money chasing probably unattainable shades.

Beauty Favorites // Skincare

Today I decided to share some of my skincare favorites with you.  These are products I can see myself repurchasing in the future and many of them I have repurchased.


I have pretty active skin (a nicer way of saying that I break out a lot).  Since I read Paula Begoun’s The Best Skin of Your Life Starts Here, I have started avoiding products with irritating ingredients like added fragrances.  While this seemed a little boring at first, it has made a huge difference in the appearance of my skin.

Why I Fell Off the Green Beauty Bandwagon


A few years ago, I ended my first blog where I focused mostly on doing “Green Beauty” reviews.   I have always been crazy about nature.  I can remember being concerned about the fate of the rainforest from the time I learned about them in elementary school.  I even convinced my family to start recycling and I always turned off the faucet while brushing my teeth.  So, in college, when I was exposed to others with a passion for the natural world and had access to natural foods stores for the first time (having moved from a small town to “the city”), I became convinced that my beauty routine had to become all natural to reflect my values.
